Healthy Lifestyle Inventory 2017
It’s a good time to take an inventory on how you have taken care of yourself over the last year. Health is wealth, excellent health is the foundation of a meaningful and joyful life. Improving and maintaining optimum health is a daily practice. Do you have more or less stress today than a year ago? Are you more energetic or less? Have you been ill or had injuries or have you been active, feeling energetic, and become stronger? There are certain self-care protocols and healthy lifestyle tips that are the keys to a better, leaner version of yourself!
Get serious and honest about your daily consumption of vegetables!
Veggies are a game changer, especially for your immune system. An increase in veggie intake generally correlates with improved health. Veggies are also low calorie.
Acknowledge and appreciate that wellness is a daily practice.
Understand that falling off the wagon is a part of the self-improvement process. Don’t beat yourself up but instead use visualization to picture a healthier you. Focus on what is working. Enjoy the process!
Sleep more deeply!
Deep sleep makes improvement of health possible. Do at least one thing to improve the quality of your sleep. You can remove electronic devices, darken the room, lower the temperature, use comfortable bedding, or place a plant in your bedroom to naturally clean the air, etc…
Wake up leaner!
Spread your meals into smaller portions more frequently. Eat lighter and stop eating well before bedtime. Lay off the carbs or cut back on the portions at your last meal. Stay hydrated.
Preparation is the key to success!
Just keeping healthy food around is not enough. Pack your lunch and snacks, put the gym bag in the trunk, hire a trainer but also prepare for self-sabotage!! Ask yourself,” If I were going to get in my own way, how would I?” Prepare what you are going to say to yourself to stay on the path.
Engage in cross-training!
Most people routinely do one form of exercise. Cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and balance should all be a part of your activities. Place these activities in your calendar to elevate their importance in your schedule.
Create more time for self-care!
Block five time slots for one hour in your schedule. We all have the same 168 hours per week so we have a choice how we spend them. Use these time slots to exercise, get a massage, or engage in other activities that you enjoy. Make at least one of them with family and friends.
Money and possessions will matter much less to you if you do not enjoy good health. Make 2017 the year you decide to engage in a meaningful way to improve your health and encourage those around you to do so as well. Be a leader for change and live out loud!!
